Our Story

Neighbors protecting neighbors, generation after generation.

Swan Lake Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1962 by a small group of Hydro residents who recognized that their rural community needed dedicated fire protection. What began as a handful of volunteers with a single truck has grown into a well-trained, fully equipped department serving thousands of residents across a wide service area.

Today, our department is staffed entirely by volunteers — farmers, teachers, business owners, and retirees — who give their time and training so that families across Lincoln County can sleep peacefully. We respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters, and we invest heavily in fire prevention education to reduce the risk before a call ever comes in.

Our station at 611 Swan Lake Road is more than a building; it is a testament to the spirit of communal responsibility that defines this part of Oklahoma. We are proud to serve Hydro and the surrounding communities with courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment.
